|David Dale Nurre, 65, of Greeley, died on March 22, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City of heart failure. He was born on December 13, 1939, in Dyersville to Floyd and Dorothy (DuBois) Nurre. He was raised and educated in the Greeley area, graduating from the Greeley High School in 1957.
Dave was united in marriage to Judith Bockenstedt on April 18, 1960, in Greeley. On August 5, 1988 he married Barb (Hook) Farmer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He farmed in the Greeley area. In more recent years, he hauled grain and livestock, and did custom baling for local farmers. Dave was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Greeley Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Greeley Commercial Club board, Greeley Creamery board and was active with the Greeley Rope Pull Team in the 1970’s.
Dave will be remembered as one who loved the land and farming. He enjoyed having coffee with friends at the local convenient store, deer hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Barb Nurre of Greeley; five children, Kris (Ken) Rave of Dundee, Rod (Ann) Nurre of Greeley, Paula Nurre of Schaumburg, IL, Luke (Tanya) Nurre of Dundee and Dustin Nurre of Greeley; a step-daughter, Sherri (Tom) Nolan of Arlington; three grandchildren, Sam and Spencer Rave and Renee Nurre; four step-grandchildren, Derek, Vanessa and Kendra Nolan and Zachary Flugum; his mother, Dorothy Nurre of Greeley; three sisters, Darlene (Merlyn) Boge of Greeley, Diane Nurre of Cedar Rapids and Barb (Jerry) Cole of Manchester and a brother, Steve (Mary) Nurre of Seoul Korea.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Nurre in 1996 and a step-son, Chad Farmer in 1993.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
