Pearl Marie Gaul, 81, of Edgewood, died Monday, July 13,2009, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home following a long illness. Pearl was born in Petersburg on August 16, 1927, to Anton and Marcella (Kruse) Putz. She received her education in the Petersburg area. On November 11, 1947, Pearl was united in marriage to Alvin R. Gaul at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg by Father Hageman. They farmed at Farley, Dyersville, Manchester, and Strawberry Point; and moved to Edgewood in 1973. She was a 4-H leader for the Lodomillo Leaderettes, worked at Edgewood School as a Cook for their hot lunch program, and served as the priest's housekeeper at St. Mark's in Edgewood for many years. Pearl was an active member of St. Mark's Rosary Society. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and her flower and vegetable garden. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Survivors include her children, Larry (Marge) Gaul of Strawberry Point, Linda (Bill) Rademacher Sr. of Garnavillo; four grandsons, Matt (Penni) Gaul, Mike (Eden) Gaul, Bill Jr. (Sue) Rademacher, James (Andrea) Rademacher; two granddaughters, Lisa Diers, LeeAnn (John) Keppler; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, VernaMae (Donnie) Lueck of Dyersville; three brothers, Harold Putz of Delaware, IA, Dave (Delores) Putz of Greeley, Jerry (Judy) Putz of East Dubuque, IL; two sisters-in law, Agnes Putz of Dyersville and Grace Putz of Manchester. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alvin on March 23, 2002; two brothers, Walter Putz and Fred Putz and one sister, Alice Putz. | |
