Cecile A. Quinn, Shawano, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Unity Hospice in De Pere. Cecile was born November 13, 1930, in Strawberry Point, Iowa to the late Dewey and Cepha (Steele) Farmer. Cecile was baptized, received first Holy Communion, and confirmation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cox Creek, Iowa. She graduated from St. Josephs Catholic High School in Elkader, Iowa, and attended Business College in Dubuque, Iowa. Cecile married Francis E. Quinn on July 9, 1949, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elkader, Iowa. Francis was employed by Dubuque Packing in various cities and the couple moved to Shawano in 1958. Cecile was employed by the Shawano Recreation Center, and also Midwest Breeders from 1965 until retiring in 1983. She was a very active member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Cecile belonged to the Christian Mother’s Group and distributed communion at Shawano Medical Center. She belonged to multiple Bridge groups in Shawano, was involved at the Senior Center, and participated in exercise class. Cecile was an excellent seamstress, and loved to knit. She was also an avid fisherman. Cecile will always be remembered for her generous spirit and giving heart.

She is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Jon) St Aubin of Eau Claire; her son Dennis (Peggy) Quinn of Allouez; her brother, John Farmer of Strawberry Point, Iowa; two sisters, Dorothy Leonard of Elkader, Iowa; Rita (Don) Larson of Elkader, Iowa; grandchildren, S. Robert (Stephanie) Bartelt and their child, Francesca, Erin (Scott) Gutschow and their children, Greta and Grace, Meghan (Zach) Leimkuehler and their child, Emma, and Corey Quinn Bartelt.

Cecile was preceded in death by her husband Francis on April 27, 2005; her brother, Don Farmer; and her sister, Erma Leonard.

A special thanks to Renaissance Assisted Living in De Pere and friends, especially Sue White and the Knitting Group, Dr. Amy James, Dr Biernat, and Unity Hospice and its staff for the excellent care given to Cecile.

A lunch will follow the Graveside Services on August 29th, at Johnson's Restaurant in Elkader.
