Marlowe Dean Bacon, 69, “39” of Coggon, Iowa, died on Monday, September 7, 2009, at his residence from mastisized breast cancer to the bone. He was born on June 13, 1940, on the home farm in Milo Township near Ryan, the son of Louis and Arlene (Galitz) Bacon. He was raised and educated in the area, graduating from Manchester High School in 1957.
Marlowe was united in marriage to RuthAnne Dunlap on April 9, 1961 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan. Three daughters were born to this union. Marlowe was a dairy farmer forty plus years. In 2001, Marlowe and RuthAnne moved to Coggon where he was employed by Wholesale Feeds.
Marlowe was a volunteer fireman. He enjoyed country music concerts, tractors pulls, farm shows, and camping.
Survivors include his wife, RuthAnne Bacon of Coggon; three daughters, Inez (Scot) Gronewold of Olin, Dana (Joseph) Pasker and Renee (Matt) Milburn both of Manchester; seven grandchildren, John Gronewold, Amanda (Don) Kintzle, Danielle (Jeremey) Hutchinson, Sarah Pasker, Joe Pasker, Braxton Milburn, and Breanna Milburn; one great-grandson, Chase Hutchinson; and one great-grandchild on the way.
Marlowe was preceded in death by his parents.
