Paul C. Nurre, 53, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, died on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, as the result of an accident at the Aurora Elevator in Aurora. He was born on January 21, 1956, in Manchester, the son of Charles and Alice (Weber) Nurre. He was raised and educated in the Strawberry Point area and graduated from Starmont High School in 1974. He also graduated from Iowa State University with an agricultural degree and was employed by the Aurora Co-operative Elevator.
On September 29, 1990, Paul was united in marriage to Kathleen “Kathy” Fangman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Strawberry Point. Together they made their home in Strawberry Point. Paul was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Strawberry Point.
He enjoyed his nieces and nephews, gardening, animals, and golf. Paul was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa State Cyclones and delighted in the rivalry between the Cardinals and Cubs and between the Cyclones and the Iowa Hawkeye fans. He was also a "history buff" especially about J.F.K. and the Titanic.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Nurre of Strawberry Point; his father, Charles Nurre of Strawberry Point; a step-daughter, Dusty Rae (Kreg) Thein of Westgate; his siblings, Chris Nurre of Washington, Dan Nurre of DeKalb, Illinois, Mark (Christine) Nurre of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Angie (Dick) Jansa of Ely, John (Lisa) Nurre of Strawberry Point, and Joan (Ronnie) Boardman of Arlington; and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Nurre.
