Jerry Dean Scheffert, 68, Prairie du Chien, formerly of Monona, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at his home following a sudden illness. Jerry was born on January 23, 1941, Elgin, Iowa, to Earl and Eleanor (Guyer) Scheffert. He graduated from Monona-Farmersburg High School with the class of 1959.

Jerry served in the United States Marine Corp for several years. He was awarded the Marine of the Month on several occasions and was honorably discharged. Jerry was a Vigortone Feed Dealer for several years and then started his own feed business, New Concepts, based in Decorah, Iowa. In later years, he enjoyed being a car salesman and was currently working for Great Country Car Sales, in Prairie du Chien, WI.

Survivors include his mother, Eleanor Scheffert, McGregor; four children, Jeremy (friend, Stacy), Kristin (Dave), Gary and family, Laura and family; one brother, Lanny (Linda) Scheffert; one sister, Julie (Wayne) Knobbe; several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Earl Scheffert and one brother, Keith Scheffert, in infancy.
