Helen H. Nading, 86, of Volga, Iowa, died at the Grundy Center Care Center on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. She was born on December 28, 1922, in Littleport, the daughter of Edward F. and Helena Minnie (Nightingale) Hakert.
Helen was united in marriage to Frank Peake and later divorced. She then married Gilbert C. Nading on July 2, 1954, in Dubuque. They lived in Rockford, Illinois for 40 years until she moved to Volga in the mid 1990’s. Helen was employed by Nylint Toys for many years.
Survivors include her seven children, Ronny (Barbara) Peake of Strawberry Point, Roger (Jeannie) Peake of Northport, AL, Roxanne Nading of Rockford, IL, Rena (Ron) Stoffel of Waukon, Rhonda (Dwight) Chapman of New Hartford, Rosalind Nading of Elkader, and Reece Nading of Volga; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Vera Smith of Elkader, a brother-in-law, Russell (Ruth) Nading of Marion; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Parker of Garnavillo, and Arlene Hakert of Elkader.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Frank Peake; and her second husband, Gilbert Nading; two sons in infancy, Randolph and Reed Nading; and one grandson, Ronald Stoffel.
Helen was a kind, generous and caring person who was always giving to others and never expected anything in return. She will be missed by her family and friends.
