Cletus Alan Rose, 65, Monona, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, WI, following a sudden illness. Clete was born on February 10, 1944, on the family farm near Monona, Iowa, to C. Harold “Haley” and Dorothy (Carwick) Rose. Clete attended the Franklin #3 Country School through the eighth grade and graduated from Waukon High School.

Clete was united in marriage to Elaine Eadie. He was then united in marriage to Victoria (Gohde) Hafke on July 17, 1982, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, in McGregor, Iowa.

In his earlier years, Clete farmed the family farm north of Monona, Iowa. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, working on his cabin, gardening, bowling and playing softball and baseball. In 1981, he completed a correspondence course for upholstery and ran his upholstery business out of his home.

Clete’s passion was playing the steel guitar. He was a member of many different bands over the years including most recently: The Legends and The Red Rose Ramblers. He was a founding member of The Country Jamboree, which still takes place today. Clete loved taking trips with his wife, Vicki, and spending time with his many family members. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Rose, Monona; six children, Lynn Rose, Kasson, MN, Nadine (Daryl) Rose Hansmeier, Davenport, Kyle (Lisa) Rose, Davenport, Donald (Vikki) Hafke, Prairie du Chien, WI, Thomas (Michelle) Hafke, Monona, Sheri Hafke, Prairie du Chien, WI; one brother, Gary (Lottie) Rose, Kieler, WI and 14 grandchildren.

Clete was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Brett Hafke and Christopher Cannon-Runde.
