Dennis Patrick Sullivan, 57, of Edgewood, Iowa, died at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, on Monday, November 30, 2009. He was born on October 21, 1952, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Donald and Elizabeth (Haas) Sullivan.
Denny was raised and educated in the Manchester area and graduated from West Delaware High School. He drove truck for Kelchen Grain. On February 20, 1982, Denny was united in marriage to Marilyn Kelchen in Edgewood. He continued working for Kelchen Grain. In 1995 he had a liver transplant. Denny then started to farm and continued working with Kelchen Grain.
Denny was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Edgewood. He loved combining corn, answering Jason’s farming questions, putting up with Matt, and following Tracy’s sports, no matter which town or state they were in.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Sullivan of Edgewood; three children, Jason (Kim) Sullivan, Matthew Sullivan and Tracy Sullivan all of Edgewood; four siblings, Dan (Sharren) Sullivan of Denham Springs, Louisiana, David (Janet) Sullivan of Aurelia, Dee Ann (Loras Sabers) Sullivan , and D.J. (Carla) Sullivan all of Manchester; his mother-in-law, Rose Ann Kelchen, of Edgewood; and four step-grandchildren, Kyle, Kayle, Jared, and Jessica.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Denise Sullivan; and his father-in-law, Lloyd Kelchen
