|Vera M. Cole, 80, of Manchester, Iowa, died on Monday, September 10, 2012, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. She was born on May 27, 1932, in Delhi, the daughter of Kenneth and Ethel (Thomas) Nelson. Vera was raised and educated in the area, and graduated from Manchester High School in 1949.
On April 15, 1950, Vera was united in marriage to Harvey L. Cole in West Union. Together they resided in Manchester. Vera drove school bus for over 22 years, until her retirement in 1993.
Vera loved her family, her dog, Tessa, and enjoyed crocheting, bingo and gambling.
Survivors include her four children, Daryl (friend, Val) of Hopkinton, Delpha (Jamie) Ostrander of Manchester, Allen “Porkchop” (Fiorella) Cole of Turner Valley, Alberta, Canada, and Arlyn Cole of Manchester; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Ronald (Ervine) Nelson of Portland, Oregon, Doug (Jerri) Nelson of Charles City, and Janet Cords of Delhi.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey L. Cole, on December 31, 2001; one granddaughter, Sheila Cole in 1972; and a sister, Bertha Cornwell. |
